We are Kelly and Rich, a British couple currently based in beautiful British Columbia, Canada. Both in our early thirties, we spent the best part of our twenties working in the leisure industry. After meeting at work, we were together for about two years before we decided to pack our bags, sell pretty much everything we owned and move to Australia.
Fast forward four years and we have been privileged enough to live and work in four Australian cities - Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth, as well as take a campervan trip down the Australian East Coast. Since we got together, we have been fortunate enough to also travel to Monaco, the United States, Bali, Thailand, Singapore, Sri Lanka, France and Ireland.
In August 2018, we took a two week trip travelling across Canada by train. We visited Vancouver, BC, Jasper, AB, Winnipeg, MB and Toronto, ON, and in April 2019 we moved to Vancouver, BC.
Other than travelling, we enjoy food - charcuterie boards and brunch are a particular favourite - and drinking. You will often find us in a brewery or at a winery, or attempting to cross items off Kelly's Bucket List.
At 28 homes and counting we blog about travel, food and drink as well as random ponderings ranging from tiny homes to penguins to west coast sunsets and pretty much everything in between. If you like what you see feel free to, subscribe, send us a message or follow us over at @28homes on Twitter or @28homesandcounting on Instagram.

ABOUT KELLY
Kelly grew up a military brat and lived in Germany, Scotland and England as a child. One of her biggest regrets is not learning German. Kelly is a passionate reader and writer, and is fanatical about spelling and grammar. Since giving up her career in the leisure industry to travel, Kelly has done mostly temporary work and has had approximately 30 jobs since she was 15. Kelly has a Masters Degree in History, but has only ever vaguely used it in 1 of those 30 jobs - as a Museum Research Assistant. Kelly's favourite country in the world is Singapore, although she would one day love to live in Italy. Kelly has weird obsessions with tiny houses, penguins and collecting points at supermarkets.
Fun Fact: Kelly was a volunteer at the London 2012 Olympic Games
ABOUT RICH
Rich grew up in a small Welsh town, in a hotel that his parents owned. His knowledge of the Welsh language stretches as far as being able to count to 10. Rich is the youngest of four siblings and has 11 nieces and nephews! Rich dropped out of university to sell gym memberships and rapidly worked his way up to the position of General Manager for a premium health and fitness chain. After leisure, Rich moved into several temporary accounts payable roles, before following his passion for IT and he now works for a web development agency. He does all of the geeky tech stuff on our website. Rich's favourite country in the world is Australia and two-thirds of his immediate family live in Perth, WA. He loves craft beer, kayaking and anything to do with space.
Fun Fact: Before university, Rich worked as a pirate on a replica Tall Ship
