I can't believe it's been six weeks already. Time is absolutely flying. We only booked a six months stint at Myra Canyon Ranch so we are about a quarter of the way through already!

After the sheer mundanity of week five, I'm happy say that this week I actually have a thing or two to report...

Our Home became a Film Set!

I am an absolute sucker for romantic comedies. I absolutely adore all things relating to love and soppiness. Sometimes, if I'm feeling a bit low, I'll put on a rom-com and cry it all out.

You can imagine how excited I was, then, to find out that the ranch would be the setting for an over-the-top, cheesy, straight to TV holiday film.

My excitement was pretty short lived. The crew were here for 2.5 days and all I glimpsed from movie making, is that it is really slow, repetitive and pretty dull!

The first day we had to move our car (at 7:30am!) to the lower parking lot to make way for the prop guys to unload all of their festive junk. It took them an entire day to set up for approximately three shots! On the bright side, the ranch looked absolutely beautiful by the time they were done.

Purely coincidentally, Rich had arranged a vacation day on day two but unfortunately our would-be lie-in was interrupted around 8am by what sounded like elephants running up and down the stairs.

We spent the morning peeking out of the window and finally got to see some filming, where we watched the male and female lead walk down a short hill approximately 25 times. How thoroughly exciting.

I won't lie though, as soon as I find out the name of the film, it will go to the top of my watchlist and will likely become one of my festive favourites forevermore!

Beyond Overindulgence at yet another Winery

One of the reasons we were most excited to move to Kelowna was that we could spend all winter exploring the vast wine region (with the added bonus of very few tourists!)

We did pretty well in our first fortnight, visiting two wineries in two weeks. Since then, however, we've been pretty lazy and have settled into a routine on the ranch.

With Rich taking his final holiday day of the year, we decided to make the most of it with another wine paired lunch, this time at the Cedar Creek Estate Winery.

After not so successfully creeping past the film crew and Rich taking a spectacular fall down the hill in front of everyone, we managed to make it to the winery in one piece.

The restaurant was all set up for Christmas and was absolutely beautiful. The views of the lake were stunning and I could have spent all day gazing through the floor to ceiling windows.

It looked like a fancy place so we were expecting tiny plates, but our two course meals were absolutely huge. I honestly could have stopped after my "starter" of squid.

I definitely should have stopped after the second course, but Rich is a sucker for a sticky toffee pudding and after finding out the chef was a fellow Brit, there was no way we'd be able to decline dessert.

As delicious as it was, I left the winery knowing I shouldn't have had it. I almost vomited in the car park - very classy - and then actually had to undo my jeans AND my bra clasp on the way home just to ease the nausea.

I've no idea what I would have said to the police if we had been pulled over!

Finally Feeling Festive

The rest of the week was spent enjoying everything that December brings.

We finally got some fresh snow, we drank a lot of Baileys - in coffee, in hot chocolate and over ice - ate a lot of mince pies and watched no less than nine Christmas films.

We went for lovely wintery walks, bought and wrapped presents for each other and after last weeks five-shop-fiasco, we actually managed to hunt down some Advent Calendars.

Overall, week six on the ranch was one of our best yet and we can't wait to see what's still to come.
