Disney Day Two did not start well.
We were up and about early and feeling confident about the day ahead. There would be no well dressed crowds to ruin our day today. Honestly, how busy can the first Monday in November be at Disneyland, we asked ourselves smugly.
Having only arrived in Anaheim at lunchtime the previous day, we wanted to be at the entrance for opening. We virtually skipped to security in the glorious Californian sunshine and then we were hit with just how busy it could be. The queues were busier than the previous day! I suggested that we go get some breakfast at Downtown Disney to soak up the atmosphere and wait for the parks to open. The only atmosphere we got was our food order being forgotten in Starbucks and having to go through Disneyland security twice.
We decided to hit Disney’s California Adventure Park first as the queues seemed slightly shorter and our first ride of the day was on the Grizzly River Run where we shared a raft with a lovely Canadian family. This turned out to be stupid decision number one of the day as we got absolutely drenched. From head to toe soaking and then had to walk around the park in wet clothes for the majority of the rest of the day. Feeling pretty refreshed we headed over to Paradise Pier and seeing just a 15 minute wait time we decided to give Mickeys Fun Wheel a try.

Canadian school holidays.
Having been in the unfortunate position in Florida a few years earlier where we’d arrived during Mexican school holidays, I’d been sure to research our dates for Mexican and American school holidays and been relieved to find there weren’t any. Looking back, it seems obvious that I should have also checked north of the border, but for some unknown reason it didn’t really cross my mind. By this point I had given up all hope of getting Rich to be a Disney person, I was ALMOST considering giving up the Disney dream myself…
Fortunately the ride was awesome and appeared to be the first positive sign of the day. With an explanation at last for why we’d been fighting crowds for two days, we could re-plan the day and choose to wait in line for things we really wanted to do. The next thing on my list was ‘Frozen Live On Stage’, which Rich endured for me, I really am very lucky to have such a patient boyfriend as this took out two more hours of our already limited day and involved me singing badly for the rest of the day. After that trauma, It was Richard’s turn to choose a ride and so we somewhat defeatedly joined the sixty minute queue for ‘Hyperspace Mountain’. After my absolute hissy fit the previous day about Fastpasses, I was about to rediscover their joy when a really nice guy gave us his two spares and we got on the ride in less than 10 minutes. I will definitely pay it forward the next time we go to a Disney park. We squeezed in one quick go on the ‘Matterhorn Bobsleds’ and my inner child completely lost itself when we got to ‘Cars Land’ just in time to see Radiator Springs all lit up in neon, before it was time for dinner.
