After six wonderful months living at Myra Canyon Ranch, it was time for us to once again pack up "Nelly The Nissan" and drive to the incredible Sunshine Coast.
Our first trip to this part of BC was back in the "normal times", for a long weekend in February 2020, just before the world shut down. We got a lot more rain than one would expect in a place named for sunshine, but when the sun came out we both immediately fell in love with the coast and were determined to return at some point.

Our last week at the ranch was spent cleaning, packing, working (Richard) and getting yet more dental work done (also Richard).
On our last night, Rolf and Kathrin invited us to spend the evening cooking sausages over a fire pit and watching the sunset. We had a few beers, tried to avoid getting eaten to death by mosquitos (and bears) and then had an early night.
Moving Day arrived and after being waved off (literally, with towels) by Rolf and Kathrin, we had time for a quick selfie before hitting the road.

The drive from Kelowna to Sechelt can be a very pretty one, journeying through picturesque mountains and plains before eventually passing the City of Vancouver.
The Coquihalla Pass is considered to be one of the most treacherous roads in BC. The conditions can rapidly change and there are many signs warning that you are now entering an avalanche area.
We got very lucky back at the end of October when we drove to Kelowna, but this time the mountain was not on our side...
Our view changed from this:

To this about 10 minutes later:

Fortunately, Rich was a superstar and successfully navigated us through the heavy cloud, rain, hail and occasional snow showers and we finally made it to the Horseshoe Bay ferry terminal.
We were lucky that the weather in Vancouver was much better than on the Coquihalla and we managed to make the most of the forty minute journey across to Langdale harbour, sharing an amazing poutine and strolling around the outer deck.

We made it to the coast in great time. Such great time in fact that we were too early to check in to our new home. We killed some time by driving along the Sunshine Coast Highway, stopping for a quick walk at Sargeant Bay Provincial Park.
It was even more beautiful than the pictures, but it was extremely windy so we were very glad when 4 o'clock rolled around and we could finally move in to our new home. Of course there was only one way to finish "Moving Day" - with one last bottle of "See Ya Later Ranch" sparkling wine.
