Life On The Ranch: Week 14 Summary

So it turned out that my very "scientific" theory was incorrect. In my week 13 summary, I posited that we were having one slow week, followed by one busy exciting week whilst living at Myra Canyon Ranch.

Week 14 turned this theory on its head as we should have had a busy week, but once again virtually nothing happened. Nonetheless, I need to write about something...

Rich Got A Long Overdue Haircut

Both of us have hair that grows ridiculously quickly and, unfortunately, haircuts in Canada can be pretty expensive. We both had a good chunk taken off before we left Vancouver and were hoping that would see us through the winter.

Sadly, Rich was starting to look a bit like a criminal on his client calls so he headed down to Kelowna to get a chop. Fortunately, I rarely interact with other people so I will be trying to hold out on a cut until our move to the Sunshine Coast in a few months.

I tried to get a "before" and "after" photo, but Rich was in a silly mood so this is the best I could do...

A Very Virtual Super Bowl

It's fair to say that we are not huge American Football fans. We are, however, big fans of any excuse to eat lots of food and drink lots of booze. It wasn't a hard stretch to make, therefore, that Super Bowl Sunday would become one of our favourite days of the year.

Hard to believe though it is, the 2020 Super Bowl took place in a world before worldwide lockdowns, Zoom quizzes and pyjama bottoms becoming acceptable workwear.

Had we known then what we know now, we probably would have gone to the busiest sports bar in the city and hugged every sports fan we could find... As it was, we stayed in, watched it on our big TV and baked homemade pretzels.

This year, obviously going to a bar was out of the question so instead we had a two-person Super Bowl party.

We barbecued way more food than two people could possibly need and drank a range of craft beers - the lightest of which was 5.6%. To be honest, I was pretty drunk by the end of the first quarter.

After placing $40 worth of totally contradictory bets, we worked our way through the mountains of food and beer and then called our British friends in Vancouver to see how their two-person party was going.

As the day wore on we connected with some of Richard's friends from school, who were up very late watching in the UK. None of their bets were going too well either.

We ended the night very drunk, very full and very sleepy. We either won $9 or lost $31 depending on how full your glass is!

And finally, since basically nothing else happened this week, here are some more photos of the snow...
